Interior Design Tip: Choosing a Focal Point

I love HGTV. (I mean really love it) One of my favorite things to watch for is how each designer chooses a focal point for the room and then builds the design, the look, the feel, the textures and colors and accessories of the entire room around that focal point.

Sometimes it's an architectural feature - like a fireplace or a huge window. Other times it's a picture, a mirror or a dramatic piece of furniture. But it's always something interesting to look at, something colorful or texturally and visually appealing.

The best, most inviting rooms have fabulous focal points. And you know - there are all kinds of great designs from our collections that work wonders as focal points in any room.

This design will set the tone in the bedroom - elegant, romantic, classy - a real retreat from the hectic day-to-day and a reminder of what, at the end of the day, is truly most important.

In the family room or great room, this design sets a warm, welcome tone. Come, play - be a part of the family. We're here for each other - through thick and thin.
For your entryway - something fancy, traditional and eye-catching. This here, this home, this is where it's happenin'. This is real life.

And, of course, you can always design your own wall quote. Holly used a favorite Bible verse, highlighted important words with a contrasting font, add a few accessories and we've got a work of art - a beautiful, strong focal point for a lovely, comfortable room.
