Dress Up Your Bed

I love DIY projects - partly because I can brag and say "I did that!" but mostly because we live on a tight budget (as most young families do, particularly in recent days). When we got married, we splurged on a mattress, but haven't yet sprung for a headboard & frame so it sits in a $30 basic metal frame from Costco with not much in the way of adornment.

I keep looking for lovely, smart (and cheap) headboard ideas and found a great link this week at diyideas.com (a great resource for- you guessed it - diy ideas). The entire idea gallery is cool, but this one in particular caught my eye:

We can do that! I thought. Of course, they mention making the stencil yourself - totally doable, but if you can find a lovely company (like ours) to do it for you and eliminate virtually all of the work and stress? I say go for it!

Also, remember the beautiful Chinese floral designs from a few weeks ago? These would be lovely as an accent piece above a bed. And interestingly enough, we've recently had several custom vinyl wall letter orders for precisely this thing - designs for above the bed. One gal ordered this:


Just lovely isn't it? So watch for our new vinyl headboards & designs coming soon. You'll be seeing wrought iron, lots of scrolls and flourishes and some pretty florals as well. Go crazy - dress up that bed, and with any luck, I'll even post a photo of our new headboard. (seriously, vinyl's the perfect accessory in every room - and don't I know it!)
